Rashid Khan Demise: Veteran music emperor Ustad Rashid Khan passed away on Tuesday. He breathed his last at the age of 55. Ustad Rashid Khan was suffering from prostate cancer, for which he was undergoing treatment in a hospital in Kolkata. He was on ventilator and oxygen support. Despite all the efforts of the doctors, he could not be saved.
An official of the hospital where Ustad Rashid Khan was undergoing treatment said, ‘We tried a lot, but failed. He died at around 3:45 pm.
CM Mamata Banerjee expressed grief
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed condolences on the demise of Ustad Rashid Khan. He said, ‘This is a big loss for the entire country and the entire music world. I am very sad. I still can’t believe that Rashid Khan is no more.

Health was gradually improving
Ustad Rashid Khan’s health had deteriorated significantly after suffering a cerebral attack last month. He initially received treatment at Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital. Then later he chose to continue his treatment in a hospital in Kolkata. According to close sources, his condition was recovering after being admitted to a private hospital last month.
Gave stage performance for the first time at the age of 11
Born in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, Rashid Khan was the nephew of Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan. He took his initial training from his maternal grandfather, Ustad Nisar Hussain Khan (1909-1993). Rashid Khan was a singer of Ustad Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana. He gave his first stage performance at the age of 11.

Ustad Rashid Khan had decorated the bandish of ‘Aaoge Jab Tum’ with his voice for Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor’s film ‘Jab We Met’, which became quite popular. Apart from this, he had spread the magic of his voice in films like ‘My Name is Khan’, ‘Raaz 3’, ‘Manto’ and ‘Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana’.
